There are so many opportunities to improve the experiences in everyday life and my goal is to find those solutions
Ever since I was a kid, I had a lifelong dream of becoming an inventor. I had a ton of ideas and still keep a running list today, but I never knew where to start of how to make them come to life, which is why I eventually went to engineering school to learn how to make things work.
During my free time after class and basketball practice, I built a prototype from my list of ideas of a temperature controlled pillow. I researched about electrical heating and cooling components, insulating materials, and even asked my engineering contacts for advice too. For my prototype, I actually cut up an electrical heated mattress pad that my mom bought me for Christmas...sorry mom!
I learned such valuable things in engineering school, but I realized after my attempt at a first prototype, I was missing crucial components of the design process. I desired to be a well-rounded designer to be able to create products from start to finish. So I decided to supplement my foundation of engineering with a Masters in Industrial Design for specific design training in usability and aesthetics.
Design is not just a job, for me, it is my life's passion. I love the process of figuring out the fine details that make or break a design because I truly believe that good design shouldn't need an explanation.
I am unique not only because I am a tall redhead, but because I am on a mission to invent the next big thing.
